Oreo Cookies 'As Addictive As Cocaine' And Lab Rats, Like Humans, Eat The Middle First! Wow Wtf?

According to a study done by Connecticut College students, Oreo cookies have addictive qualities that rival morphine or cocaine.

Professor Joseph Schroeder and his students tested the theory on lab rats and found that they formed a strong association with the cookies - a reaction similar to rats injected with cocaine or morphine.

These guys took a bunch of lab rats and fed them Oreos. The lab rats formed a strong association with America's favorite cookie. This reaction was almost identical to the rats injected with morphine and cocaine (Poor little babies :[ ).

I Google'd "A rat shooting up" and found this beautiful picture

They also found that eating Oreos tickled the pleasure center of the brain even more than exposure to DRUGS. This study was conducted to expose the addictiveness of high fat and sugary foods like spending a day in america doesn't already do that.

"It may explain why some people can't resist these foods even though they are bad for them" Professor Schroeder said.

Same search results LMFAO

The test was conducted by placing a rice cake on one side of a maze and an Oreo on the other, then recording how long the rat would spend time on either side. The group compared these results with the results of another test that did the same biz only with morphine injections and saline injections

The results showed that the rats hung around the Morphine just as much as the Oreos.

I feel a great sense of relief that it's not my fault I ate an entire package of these last week *phew*

Here's a Fun Fact; The rats also ate the Oreos just like you and i do, breaking apart the cookies and going for the cream!

The Secret Life of Plants

The Secret Life Of Plants is a really good documentary I came across awhile back.  I'm not sure what made me think of it but I now have a strong urge to share it! This documentary explores "The physical, emotional and spiritual relations between plants and man" it offers a really different perspective on the topic of plant sentience. Yes plant sentience. Sounds crazy but, you'll definitely learn something new!

A book of the same name is on scribd. I actually didn't know this until probably two seconds ago when I looked it up again. Here's the link if you're like me and now need to do some additional reading!

German Groom Forgets Bride At Gas Station

A German couple's marriage got off to a rocky start when the groom forgot his bride at a highway gas station on the way home from their honeymoon, only noticing she was missing after hours had passed.

Police said Friday the couple was heading home to Berlin from France when the man pulled over at a gas station to fill up their van.
The woman had been sleeping in the back but had to tinkle and went to use the restroom. The groom --somehow unaware-- drove off and left her.

pretty sure my wife's here I'm good to go!

.
It took this guy 2 1/2 hours of driving to notice his new bride to be...wasn't in the van!! He called the police eventually and returned to his patiently waiting wife.

Have You Ever Seen Anything Like This? What Did Ancient People Encounter To Make Statues Like This?

Temehea Tohua is the largest of the Marquesas islands in French Polynesia. This unique island is home to some of the strangest statues is existence. Several of these statues seem to represent beings that don't exactly fit in the animal kingdom. What the heck are these things? Perhaps it was just something from the Artists' imagination...

At first glance they seem just seem like “big old statues” but look a little closer and odd details are revealed; Big eyes, large elongated heads, small bodies/huge bodies, and other weird features that really make you wonder what drugs could have inspired the artist to carve such non-human features?

Nuku Hiva is a large island apart of the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia.
Nuku Hiva was also the site for Survivor: Marquesas, the fourth installment of the popular CBS reality television show in the US.

7 Unbelievable Natural Eternal Flames From Around the World

Of the thousands of eternal flames across the globe, most are man-made, created either for religious reasons or to honor history's famous, such as Virginia's John F. Kennedy Memorial. But eternal flames that occur naturally are harder to come by.
Often ignited by lightning or humans, these flames need to live in a specific environment where the gas source isn't at risk of being burnt away or destroyed. Here's a look at a few fascinating and lesser known natural eternal flames around the world, some of which have been burning for centuries.

Edward Smith, Man Who Has Had Sex With 999 Cars, Ready To Commit To VW Beetle (VIDEO)

Edward Smith's love life has been in overdrive for the last 48 years.
By his count, he's had more than 1,000 sex partners -- but only one of those was actually human.
Smith, 63, is a "mechaphile," the term for someone sexually attracted to planes, trains and automobiles.
Oh, and helicopters too. He once had a quickie with a copter used in the TV series "Airwolf."
"Some guys look at boobs and bums on beautiful women. I look at the front and rear on beautiful cars," he said, according to the Mirror.

I guess the "Different strokes for different folks" saying is true!

A Fossilized Blood-Engorged Mosquito Is Found For the First Time Ever

In the 20 years since the movie Jurassic Park fantasized about how a vast array of dinosaurs could be cloned from blood found in ancient amber-trapped mosquitoes, fossil collectors have been on the hunt for a similar specimen. Over the years, a few different groups of scientists have claimed to find a fossilized mosquito with ancient blood trapped in its abdomen, but each of these teams’ discoveries, in turn, turned out to be the result of error or contamination.

Today, it was announced that we finally have such a specimen, a blood-engorged mosquito that’s been preserved in shale rock for around 46 million years in northwestern Montana. The most astounding thing about the discovery? It was made three decades ago by an amateur fossil hunter—a geology graduate student named Kurt Constenius—then left to sit in a basement, and only recognized recently by a retired biochemist named Dale Greenwalt who’s been working to collect fossils in the Western U.S. for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History...

The Harvard Ambulatory MicroRobot: penny-sized, amazingly fast robot modeled after bugs

In addition to the tiny and quite creepy RoboBee, the Harvard Microrobotics Laboratory has developed an incredibly small and unbelievably fast class of ground-based robots.
While there are faster legged robots out there, like the cheetah robot, no robot this small can come close in terms of speed.
There are multiple versions that fall under the Harvard Ambulatory MicroRobot (HAMR) program, ranging from tethered robots the size of a penny to cockroach-sized robots carrying their own battery pack...

Miley Cyrus: Is My Twerking Worse Than Breaking Bad’s How to Cook Meth Lesson?

The singer defends her controversial VMA performance.
Miley Cyrus has responded to criticism of her raunchy  VMAs performance, saying she isn’t racist, insisting she wasn’t “trying to be sexy”, and comparing her twerky bacchanalia to the murderous meth cookery of the hit TV show  Breaking Bad

"America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong," Cyrus said in  Rolling Stone’s new cover story. “Like, I was watching Breaking Bad the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It’s a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word ‘fuck’. And I’m like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you’re not allowed to say ‘fuck’? It’s like when they bleeped ‘molly’ at the VMAs. Look what I’m doing up here right now, and you’re going to bleep out ‘molly’? Whatever.”

The Power Of..Honey!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you will have noticed a dramatic increase in the amount of honey bee products available on the market. They come in a great variety of forms: honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, bee venom and countless others. The uses go far beyond the superficial sweetening properties of honey; in fact an entire science known as apitherapy devotes itself to the medical use of honey bee products.

Therapies involving the honeybee have existed for thousands of years and some may be as old as human medicine itself. The ancient rock art of early hunter-gatherers depicts the honeybee as a source of natural medicine. Bee venom therapy was practiced in ancient Egypt, Greece, and China. Hippocrates, the Greek physician known as the “Father of Medicine”, recognized the healing virtues of bee venom for treating arthritis and other joint problems. Today, growing scientific evidence suggests that various bee products promote healing by improving circulation, decreasing inflammation, and stimulating a healthy immune response.

Eating honey on a daily basis will help prevent cancer and heart disease, reduce ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders and provide your body with anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral protection.

Study Proves Sustainable Farms, Organic Farming Beats Factory Farms

For those who are appalled at the way animals are treated in conventional livestock production, there is a better way. Sustainable livestock production practices include providing greater animal welfare, increasing biodiversity, and extending good working conditions to those who care for the animals, all while maintaining a profitable business. A new study clarifies this further, showing how sustainable livestock care outperforms that of factory farms.

More and more people are turning to small farms and more sustainable practices as a means to get their meat. New research from the University of Cambridge (U of C) has identified silvopastoral systems of livestock production as a means of sustainable, ethically sourced food production. This system differs from the tiny cages and infinitesimal square footage that our livestock is most often raised in now. It includes shrubs, and trees with edible leaves or fruits and lots of herbs for natural grazing...

Soda Giant: No Apology For Dangerous Additive

Soda Giant: No Apology For Dangerous Additive

Health professionals are horrified by a new ad campaign by Coca-Cola promoting its use of artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, because ingredients the iconic company calls “safe” and “high-quality” allegedly cause cancer and other diseases.
“Twenty years ago I wasn’t sure, but now there’s little doubt in my mind that artificial sweeteners can be far worse for you than sugar and fructose, and there is plenty of scientific evidence to back up that conclusion,” wrote Dr. Joseph Mercola in his online blog Mercola.com.

The Weston A. Price Foundation had expressed alarm when aspartame was proposed to be used in flavored milks for children without any notice to consumers.
“Numerous scientific studies point to toxic effects of aspartame, including cancer, digestive issues and memory impairment,” the organization said. “In spite of this evidence, the International Dairy Foods Association and the National Milk Producers Federation recently submitted a petition to the FDA to hide the chemical sweetener without declaring it on the front of the packaging.”
The organization said thousands of “adverse reactions to aspartame have been reported to the FDA, mostly concerned with abnormal brain function, brain tumors, epilepsy and Parkinson’s.’
Children’s brains “are four times more susceptible to damage from excitotoxins like aspartame than those of adults and react with ADD ADHD type symptoms, impaired learning, depression and nausea,” the Price Foundation said.
The federal government, through the FDA itself, also has commented on aspartame.
In a 2002 report by Mark D. Gold of the Aspartame Toxicity Information Center, an epidemiological survey from the Journal of Applied Nutrition asked questions of nearly 600 people who had reported reactions to aspartame.
“The adverse effects found cover a subset of reported actual and chronic toxicity effects from aspartame, [including] blindness, convulsions, severe depression, diarrhea, aggravated hypoglycemia, and susceptibility to infection,” the report said.
