Have You Ever Seen Anything Like This? What Did Ancient People Encounter To Make Statues Like This?

 

Temehea Tohua is the largest of the Marquesas islands in French Polynesia. This unique island is home to some of the strangest statues is existence. Several of these statues seem to represent beings that don't exactly fit in the animal kingdom. What the heck are these things? Perhaps it was just something from the Artists' imagination...

 

 At first glance they seem just seem like “big old statues” but look a little closer and odd details are revealed; Big eyes, large elongated heads, small bodies/huge bodies, and other weird features that really make you wonder what drugs could have inspired the artist to carve such non-human features? 

 Nuku Hiva is a large island apart of the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. Nuku Hiva was also the site for Survivor: Marquesas, the fourth installment of the popular CBS reality television show in the US.
